LA-based musician Active Child sang over an old-school 2pac instrumental, and, well, it rules. This will definitely help me get through exams. Thanks homes.
Randomly came across an instrumental of one of favorite posthumous 2Pac releases recently. It instantly transported me back to my high school days when I would make mixes for my commute to and from school. As I sat and reminisced I figured i’d drop the instrumental into ableton and have a sing over it. That sing slowly transformed into a rough song of sorts that I thought I’d share with you guys today. Not exactly original music, but something to listen to none the less. Hope you enjoy much love Pat xx
Feels good to be back up and running, but I’m in the middle of a take home exam so let’s be brief. Anyone that has been around me recently knows that I’ve been on a Kanye tear. I’ve become completely fascinated with the guy ever since I saw a video of him live in concert alone on stage screaming “top of the world.. top, top, top of the WORRRLD!!” and then proceeding to gronk-spike his microphone and walk off (link). I watched his You Hear It First interview (link) and got a sense of where he came from, what his influences were, and began to get a feel for what he was actually pursuing in life. I saw a video of him speak at Harvard about design and began to get a better picture (link). Then, yesterday, my roommate showed me his most recent tabloid explosion, the interview with Sway and I have never been so speechless. Do yourself a favor and set aside some time this week to watch this in its entirety. Absolute gold.
“I am the #1 most impactful artist of our generation. I am Shakespeare in the flesh. Walt Disney. Nike. Google… Do you want to marginalize me until I am out my moment?”
I used to mock him, but I can’t help but respect the shit out of him. There’s a fine line between genius and insanity and I think Mr. West is trying to find that line right now. I for one am a believer.
Now that you’re all up to date with my current fascination, here’s a chiller of a free download thanks to LA based producer Jerome LOL…
I apologize for the radio silence. Been busy back at school. Last few weekends I’ve been traveling like a gypsy between Manhattan, Brooklyn, Hartford, and Boston. Saw mine and Justin’s funk-master, Solomun absolutely murder an abandoned warehouse in BK and then EPIC 2.0 at Hammerstein was very very special. I’ll try to spit less heat to 19 year-olds and post more in the coming weeks. No promises though. Stay classy.
Some of you may recognize the vocals from the new Maceo track. God is he fraiche.
