With our 10th jubilee release we are also featuring a true love romance. The charismatic duo Danito & Athina are delivering some funkyish, warm and sexy grooving tunes for the cold season. Danito is already familiar to you with great releases on labels like Cocoon and Moon Harbour. Together they are taking us on a journey passing the philly sound of the 70s, the funk disco love songs of the 80s to present times united in an addictive deep sleek sound.
Avicii really hit it big with the original of “You Make Me.” It is definitely one of the best tracks on his new album…regardless of what all those haters out there may say about the album as a whole. But this remix…whoa. Throttle is a young producer out of Melbourne who has burst onto the scene over the past few months with his impressive brand of “dirty disco.” Not only does he do wonders with a mashup, but his originals are quite impressive as well. He has some extremely catchy piano/synth melodies and combines them with high-energy disco/electro drops that will have any crowd on its feet in seconds. I like to think of his sound as a cross between Dada Life and Madeon. He has certainly caught my attention and just may have restored by faith in that electro sound.
My boys over at WallflowerFood have been doing some serious soundcloud research. They specialize in those funky, deep, tropical, feel good vibes and always put together solid playlists full of fun, happy music. Wherever you are for the holidays, press play, turn up the volume, and find your beach. Playlist features originals from the likes of Bit Funk and RAC, remixes and edits from some new talents like Kygo and Thomas Jack, who are rumored to be working on a collaboration for 2014 (you can say i’m excited for that track…boner), and they even throw in some nu school edits of classics like Stardust‘s “Music Sounds Better With You” and Leo Reed‘s “Take A Walk On The Wild Side.” There are 32 tracks in this playlist and I for one downloaded at least 25 off the list. So basically, I’m just saying…get them while they’re hot.
This looks like a pretty wild time. If you are on the west coast or headed that way, I strongly suggest this event. Mainly because Eric Prydz is playing both days, once as Cirez D and then as himself. Such a badass. Anyways, lots of other dope acts performing as well, such as Duke Dumont and Benoit & Sergio, or if you like to get weird, Skrillex and Deadmau5 will be throwing down. Oh and Calvin Harris too. Go tell him to play some “original shit” and see what he says. And I’ll stop there…you can read the flyer.
The most recent Essential New Tune on BBC Radio 1 comes from one of the brightest French Express stars, Chris Malinchak, following up his latest melter “So Good To Me“. If you’re a follower of the French Express team and/or BBC Radio 1, then I’m sure you were already aware of this tune as it was the second song of Perseus & Jonas Rathsman’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, but the good news is now that Tong has previewed it, that means the release is finally somewhere on the horizon. Which is hot. If you happened to miss the aforementioned essential mix (shame on you) I’ve added it underneath as a little bonus. One of the best mixes out there. Guaranteed to make you smile.
Aeroplane brings the funk in a major way in this latest mix. And I respect the shit out of it. Pretty swag to spin some real old school shit and add that new school flair to it. Great vibes here. Makes my Friday a hell of a lot better. Thursday nights are tough. My body is telling me to stop…but I want more. Realistically…I just have to accept that Fridays are going to be a struggle. Anyways, enjoy the tuneage. Fonkay music and lemon lime Gatorade. And I’m fine today.
