I heard this in a mix the other day in my car and when I got home I made sure to find it. When I did, I was very pleased to find out that the WhiteNoize homies were behind it. So money, so 90′s. Been getting real into the g-house movement, and this bad boy fits in quite nicely. Currently sitting #3 on the Beatport House chart, it’d be very fraiche to help these guys up to #1. I got a feeling we’re gonna be seeing a changing of the tides this year in electronic music. House music has been living in the underground for a decade, but after a few Aoki shows it should click, nobody likes jumping up and down for an hour. Dusky is still sitting pretty at #1 overall. That’s what I call progress.
We at AYNE are proud to present volume 4 of “Down & Dirty” by our good friend JR Harrison aka Merrick. It’s got some solid deep vibes and some personal favorites of ours like the intro track, MK‘s remix of “See Right Through” by Storm Queen, or the Solomun remix of “Late Night” from Foals…mmhm tasty. Anyways, the kid has serious taste and a nice vision of what he wants to play and produce. Known him for quite some time, and it is hard for me to pick another more knowledgable person when it comes to the deep cuts of house music. Press play and enjoy the music.

Tracklist will be posted on my Soundcloud this week
One of the reasons I haven’t been posting as much is I have been delving into various different genres lately, and not that much house. Sometimes you gotta branch out and take a breather, so I have been listening to music that is a little more relaxing. One of the songs I heard in this time that I really enjoyed was Change by BANKS. Her music is all pretty good and relaxing, but Change is definitely her track that stuck out to me personally. Well, The Chainsmokers decided to remix it and took a deep house approach (based on their song description it seems they were trying to make a track while simultaneously showing an acquaintance that they understood deep house). Being deep house, it’s not their usual uptempo approach, but it’s good.
This looks like a pretty wild time. If you are on the west coast or headed that way, I strongly suggest this event. Mainly because Eric Prydz is playing both days, once as Cirez D and then as himself. Such a badass. Anyways, lots of other dope acts performing as well, such as Duke Dumont and Benoit & Sergio, or if you like to get weird, Skrillex and Deadmau5 will be throwing down. Oh and Calvin Harris too. Go tell him to play some “original shit” and see what he says. And I’ll stop there…you can read the flyer.
James Zabiela & Pedestrian get real funky in the mix for MixmagTV. These two are freakishly talented. Love the mix. Love the bros. So much respect.
