Move Over Kylie

Kylie-Minogue-27Welp, it’s official, Mark Knight is releasing this bomb. I’ll be honest with you guys, I’ve known about this bad boy since September, but I did not expect the man in charge of Toolroom Records to release this… ever. My thoughts were seemingly confirmed in MIA, too, when Wilki approached Fehrplay at Axis Club during Cirez D vs. Adam Beyer‘s B2B epicness to congratulate/thank him for his set at Space the previous night and to ask him about this track in particular. Fehrplay told him, with a cheeky smile no less, that it will never get the official release…  My guess is Mr. Knight changed his mind after the amazing reaction from his ABGT set last Friday. Thank the lord. I want this so badly it hurts. Kylie is my girl. For the record the track is to be called ‘Your Love’ not to be confused with his stellar TEED remix.

Release date: April 22nd

Funky Fraiche Friday [4.5.13]

AYNE-Funky-Fraiche-Fridays1Yeah, we know, we’re maggots. Haven’t done one of these Funky Fraiche Friday posts since ‘nam. Sorry to everyone that looked forward to these each week. We have a real problem with long term commitments. Starting off light-hearted and groovy with some Psychemagik, I really hope this gets released on beatport, summertime jam at its finest.

Next up is Lee M Kelsall‘s Define:Rythm… been waiting on this release for months. The sampled Corona vocal has been played many o’ times by Stevo and myself in our sets, so, naturally, this choon is a welcomed change.

Heard this as the closing song in Dixon and Ame‘s Boiler Room set… just after a pillow fight… imagine you’re in a sweaty hotel room packed with people listening to an hour of minimal techno and then, boom, this hits you in the face. One word comes to mind: euphoric.

This is arguably my favorite from the post. Audiowhores have outdone themselves with this one. So soulful it hurts.

New Walker & Royce feat. Louisahhh!!!??? Yes, please.

These next two are from one of my favorite deep house labels at the moment, Sleazy Deep, which, by the way, could be one of the more aptly named labels in all of electronic music. First up is a sensual ditty by Framework that samples some old school R&B from back at the start of the millennium. Second, is an awesome original from young Frenchman, Jerome Boutin, that will make you yearn for the touch of an other. Light some candles and break out the oils.

Finally I leave you with a set from a man who seems to literally always be on Soundcloud. His name is Taher Ouakaoui, and the young Tunisian man has more comments on fraiche music than you could even begin to imagine. Pure dedication to the deep and fonkay sounds of tomorrow. I dig that. His mixing ain’t too shabby either. Get familiar with his March mix.

Steve Angello’s Newest Baby

steve_angello_4s_by_erikj0h-d5zcv2xIf you have been living under a rock for the past week and have missed all the buzz about his Essential Mix on BBC Radio 1, well, shame on you. The mix celebrated 10 years (!) of Size Records, and masterfully at that, as well as the break-up of the most widely recognized house music trio in the history of electronic music, the Swedish House Mafia. Today, however, (thanks to Mixmag) we were blessed with some awesome news. The Swedish men have been hinting of BIGGER things to come with the break-up of the Mafia, and I think I’m starting to get it. Steve Angello has announced the start of a new label that he is calling “X“. I am very excited for releases from his new baby, as he claims it was created to give music “freedom and new life”. The first EP on X is from New Orleans-born, LA-based (of course) producer/DJ Trent Cantrelle called Nice & Close. It sounds like Steve is bringing back some of his housier roots with this label, and I like that. Don’t get me wrong, Size rules, but for the majority of people that aren’t at massive festivals, the music just doesn’t work. I’m hoping this new label will showcase Steve’s funkier side with tunes more fit for smaller clubs. Only time will tell. For now check out a preview of Nice & Close slated to be released officially May 6th.

RELEASE: Dusky – Nobody Else EP [Aus Music]

485942_484503588281997_235956381_n

Had a chance you see this very talented duo in Miami last weekend. It was quite a special night. Dusky has secured themselves a place in the next generation of deep house all-stars. Every track on this “Nobody Else” EP is stellar. The title track is a funky, soulful dream…oh, and it’s #9 on Beatport. The breakdown during the middle of “What I Never Knew” haunts me at night…in a good way. The bouncy tech track on the EP is called “Atone” and it features some illusory melodies and insane vocal sampling threaded between some extremely silly baselines and next level percussions. Waitress, we are ready to order…ya we’ll take a full plate of Dusky. Deep house is back bitches.

Bow Down To The Emporer

maceoCan’t mention his Jupiter Jazz release without letting you guys in on the biggest bomb so far of 2013, at least as far as the sunset strips of Miami are concerned. I heard a preview of this about two months ago on soundcloud and I freaked out. Infinity Ink on the vocals, Maceo Plex on the production. Somebody pinch me. I’d put a large amount of money down that I will hear this song multiple times this upcoming weekend, but that wouldn’t be fair seeing as I just bought a ticket to see the man himself Sunday night for Last Resort, which is nice.

If you’re like me and cannot stand these minute long sc teasers, check out this full length clip of Maceo’s ‘Last Disco’ Remix in HD:

RELEASE: Jupiter Jazz – Booty Jazz EP [Ellum]

576682_480515688669756_1007329128_nAfter a week of absolutely bumping this EP in my bedroom, it is time for ya’ll to do the same. If you are currently in Miami, or plan on being there for any of this WMC, you have either already heard this EP a lot, or you will be very soon. Dark, deep, tech-house sounds from the biggest power house duo in the game right now – Danny Daze & Maceo Plex. I’ve had been anxiously awaiting this release on Ellum Audio (Maceo’s label) ever since I heard rumors that those two were cranking out beats in ze studio together.

RELEASE: Roddy Reynaert & Sean Eryx – Tanes/Starchild [Ifonika Recordings]

6900153Ifonika Recordings‘ fourth release carries on the labels early and solid tradition of quality progressive music with Starchild and Tanes from Roddy Reynaert and Sean Eryx. Sean is a new talent from Cannes in France and a member of the Ifonika family who joins forces with leading man of the label. Starchild begins with an energetic strong beat accompanied by classic tribal progressive sounds which form a minimal, but captivating tech house groove, flowing through until the breakdown which wonders and amazes with a gentle almost classic minimal trance melody, before kicking in again with its layered tech and progressive sound. Tanes wastes no time in grabbing your attention with a fine rhythmic introduction that gradually builds before dropping into a compelling kick groove that holds the track tightly together. Tanes delivers a ‘feel good’ melodic breakdown as it crescendos, keeping you engaged and moving until the very last second. -Beatport

If those “technical” descriptions don’t have you all wet in your loins, maybe just try clicking play and getting lost in the progressive goodness that is Ifonika Recordings. I for one am as happy as a little school girl as they have finally released the bomb that is Tanes… Excited to hear what the future holds for this label. Seems to be getting better and better after every release.
