What It Feels Like In The Goldroom

I will attempt to describe the feeling or overall sensation…vibe if you will…that one experiences when you are surrounded with the deep, rhythmic, dreamy sounds of Goldroom (and his constituents). It is an environment in which your senses are magnified, your mind begins to wander to far off places of soothing warmth and imagination, and you find yourself happier than you have ever been. Josh Legg’s sounds are a bit slower than your run of the mill dance tunes, but that’s for good reason…they aren’t your “run of the mill” dance tunes. Goldroom’s mixes orchestra a collection of aural linguistics that transcend your best definition of cool. He basically takes you on a one hour musical lesson, teaching your ears (which most likely have been bombarded with shreiking synths, intense bass, and loud electronic noise) what it feels like to love again. Love slowly, gently, but very, very firm.

I am currently listening to his latest mix on repeat, and after the 3rd time through, I just had to share the wealth of fraicheness that is seeping out of its robust atmosphere of funky beats, dreamy rhythms, and sexy vocals. So, here you go. Sit back, and get ready to enjoy one of the best one hour musical journeys…ever. Oh, and if it seems like it can’t get any better, he says “oh, that’s funny, here’s some more.” And we love that.

By the sound of it (and his plethora of dope west coast events Josh Legg is absolutely crushing it out in California. And his music makes me want to sell my useless belongings and buy a plane ticket right now. Like literally, I’ve never been more obsessed with a particular individual musical style in my life. If feel similar, or just think his stuff is pretty fucking chill, don’t hesitate to show him some love via:

RELEASE: Usher – Euphoria [Prod. by Swedish House Mafia]

With the Swedish house legends, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell on the production and Usher on the vocals, you know whats up. This track is a bouncy upbeat track with gorgeous vocals from an R&B legend, dope melodies and synth work from the boys of Swedish House Mafia. This is the future of pop music, and I like the direction it’s headed. Now if we could only get rid of people like Justin Bieber…sorry Usher, no offense,  he just seems like someone I would like to hit square in the face…just for like…speaking.

RELEASE: Mixmash Records Presents “The Ones 2 Watch” EP Vol. 2 [Mixmash]

Mixmash Records has seen HUGE success so far in 2012 with recent releases like “Speak Up” from Laidback Luke and the huge collaboration from Laidback Luke, Norman Doray, and Arno Cost called “Trilogy” (not to mention the remix package, which is quite special). Here is a fresh new EP with tracks from some up-and-coming artists at the label. It features a new banger from Sebastian Bennett called “Slap.” Video is included below because it’s crazy, and sometimes crazy is good.

Mixmash Records Presents “The Ones 2 Watch” EP Vol. 2 [Beatport Link]

1. Sebastian Bennett – Slap (Original Mix) – my fav out of the four. Great unique sounds and an EPIC buildup into a fantastic drop!

Sebastian Bennett – Slap [Official Music Video]

“All in all the music video portrays that even a night full of party animals can have their consequences.” (Quote from the official description on YouTube)

2. Striker – Meteorite (Original Mix) – nice and wild.

3. Justin Strikes, Jay Rox – Euphoria (Original Mix) – this one gets a bit truancy, but has some pretty noteworthy synth work. Solid production.

4. Mirwais, David Gravell – Smashed Potatoes (Original Mix) – solid production with nice overlapping melodies and a big electro drop similar to “Mush Mush” but doesn’t quite get it there. I would be interested to see if any good remixes of this appear.
