Solidisco is keeping the dream that is disco alive. Here is a brand new original from the NY-based duo that Fool’s Gold Records is giving away via Soundcloud. Old school vocal samples with their signature piano-driven drops. Don’t talk, just dance.
A-Trak’s latest release is a four track EP called “Tuna Melt.” It features collaborations with the always funky fresh mista Oliver, the uber-talented magician of crunch, Tommy Trash, the duo who makes you wanna f@ckin’ lost it, GTA, and last but not least, Galantis…not that familiar with him, but he is a Swedish producer with an ear for the unusual…and that’s stated in the best way possible. His track “Tank” is dope. Ok, back to the EP at hand. A-Trak is a true visionary. Fuck genres. He makes music. And it’s always top notch. Only downside on this EP is that it is only available via iTunes right now. Sorry DJs…it will be ok.
Out today on Fool’s Gold Records is the highly-anticipated original production, “Truffle Pig,” from the wild man himself, Tommy Trash. He gets really creative with this funky electro house number and shows why he was one of the biggest up-and-comers to help shape house music scene last year. If you aren’t feeling this, you simply aren’t ready.
Solidisco is the beautifully successful combination of 2 DJs from New York that got together and decided to do a fresh take on the original style of house music, disco house…yea that’s right, the funky, soulful shiat. In their own words, “We don’t want this to just be about disco. It’s disco flavored, modern house music. We want to make dance music for people that actually want to dance.” These guys have been a secret pleasure of mine for a while now, and I have no doubts that they will be a newly adopted favorite of yours once your done listening to the tracks in this post. They also have big support throughout the house music scene, and recently, they received play time from Chuckie, Laidback Luke, and A-Tral…pretty honorable if you ask me. I will start out with their latest two original tracks released this past week on Benzi’s label, Get Right Records, and available at Beatport. Then there are some other recent releases and some nice free downloads toward the end. If you take nothing else from this post, remember this: disco is not dead, it lives inside of the creative new minds of house music who seek to make the grooves your body can’t refuse. Now get your Solidisco on with yo bad self.
Posted that track awhile back, so if this is your first time hearing it or downloading it, I am ashamed, and you should be as well. Now, aside from that. Let’s bring the mood back up. The “One More Chance” EP is quite fantastic. “Set Me Free” is the other track (preview at Beatport) Pick up both of these tracks immediately.
The breakdown in this track is untouchable. Probably why Fool’s Gold released it…
This song is as fraiche as Andy Roddick is classy (and let’s also considering the man leaves a hall-of-fame tennis career to spend more time with is dime piece wife, Brooklyn Decker…also fraiche).
These three beautiful babies are free downloads and original productions. This is what they are referring to when they say “it’s disco flavored, modern house music.” Turn these up and nothing can bring you down.
And lastly, due to spacial concerns, I will leave you with a mixtape they did about 8 months ago called “Hooked On The Classics.” It has been my, hands down, favorite disco house mixtape of 2012. If you turn this on in a room full of people, it could quite possibly turn into an impromptu dance party…just saying, you were warned. Also, pay attention to the track list below…epic song selection.

Trap music is growing on my like a bad case of the clap. And of course, when I hear about an A-Trak and Dillon Francis collaboration getting a remix from Oliver Twizt…I’m on that shit like a pregnant woman in the Ben & Jerry’s isle…yea, I’m eating some before I get to the register. Anyways, you get my point. This is just plain dope. Download immediately.
In honor and remembrance of Shark week, which I was able to witness on the best TV I have ever had the pleasure of gazing upon…thank you roommates…I give you the latest free release form Scion A/V. It is full of deep electronic grooves from James Del Barco, Them Jeans, Dirty Dave, Cosmic Kids, and of course, an AYNE favorite, Goldroom. While you may have never heard of any of these artists, I suggest two things: 1) branch out and 2) trust me. Both of those things should be presently happening on a regular basis, but if not, start now. I won’t hold it against you.
Visit Scion A/V website for FREE DOWNLOAD.
This year’s Swimming with Sharks pool series kicked off in late June and will continue to run until September 8, 2012. The party was started by MFG Productions and has hosted thousands of music fans and has featured DJs including Pools, Fool’s Gold, Spank Rock, and others at the hotels’ outdoor spaces. Scion A/V will be giving away two pairs of tickets to each Swimming with Sharks event through Twitter. Enter by tweeting “@ScionAV #SWS [date of event].” Full rules can be found at scion.com/swsrules.
Easily two of my favorite musical talents of any genre, especially electronic music. Dillon Francis is pure fuego at the moment, and A-Trak…what can you say about him? He is simply a boss. Everything he does, whether in the studio or on stage…or in a video…is just plain genius and has more swag than your dad’s G-wagon. Basically this is my new favorite track. Perfect summer tune. Make dat money baby.
A-Trak & Dillon Francis – Money Makin’ (Original Mix) – Beatport Link – $$$$$ Funky fraiche beats from two of the coolest cats in the game. Amazing collaboration.
Disco is alive.
