RELEASE: Moguai – Champs (Original Mix) [Size]

Heard this for the first time recently and was extremely impressed. Moguai is doing special stuff inside that studio…or maybe he’s doing it somewhere cool I don’t even know about…like Steve Angello’s basement or a private jet or even poolside in Vegas. Who knows?! That’s the beauty of electronic music. It’s traveling art. Anyways, this one is called “Champs” and it is absolutely sensational. The melody is literally so simple but yet perfect at the same time. Kind of like being really hungover and have a beautiful young thing bring you a glass of cold ice water and a j in the morning. It’s the simple things ya know. This production is in a word, essential…well, I guess that’s pretty much the standard at Size Records. Steve only goes big, and never apologizes for it. I can dig that. Anyone else really excited for his newly found focus on his solo career? I am.

RELEASE: Tim Mason – Swoon (Original Mix) [Size]

The brilliant producer and member of the Size Records family, Tim Mason, is back in the spotlight with one of the biggest releases this month. “Swoon” features some of the best melodies I have heard in a mainstream progressive anthem in awhile…but hey, if you remember “Anima” and “The Moment,” then you know Tim got skills. Debuted at #28 on the Beatport progressive chart and is now #17. That’s two days…yeah, you could say peoples be feelin’ his shit. Anyways, preview and download below.

17. Fehrplay – Nightride (Original Mix)

Such a baller move ending with “Nightride.” Love it. Now onto Mr. Gold. Thomas always makes dank bootlegs. The one I want to highlight is obviously the one featuring “Allein” from the one and only, Eric Prydz. He mashes it up with Tommy Trash’s remix of “Wicked Woman” and it is sensational. Not quite G&D’s version but it plays. And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can’t afford it.

Morgan Page is pretty fantastic as well. Great taste and even better production. His year end mix is quite large. 2hrs broken into 2 parts. Respect brotha. Also, love that he put the times for each song on there. So, if you are a newbie to this whole “dance music thing” and rely heavily on track lists, you are in luck. And as far as a solid “Top 30” list goes, this one is fairly on point…though I wish he put some deeper cuts on there, as well as more of his own mashups and original productions. But, hey, beggars can’t be choosers.

Oh and if you are trying to decipher our political stance from the picture above…don’t think to hard on it. We pretty much concur that they are both less than stellar in pretty much every significant category. Here’s to the bleak future of American politics and the continued rise of dance music globally.

RELEASE: Qulinez – Bamf / Dynamic EP [SIZE]

The up-and-coming duo from Sweden that has the full support of Swedish House Mafia boys, Thomas Gold, AN21 & Max Vangeli, Tiesto, and countless other top DJ/Producers, pretty solid EP. Qulinez stays true to their wild, in-your-face, electro style on the first track of the EP, “Bamf.” It might make you lose your face. The second track is called “Dynamic,” and it takes on a happier, more anthemic tone, and utilizes layer upon layer of big room synth melodies, huge builds, and crashing drops that require you to jump. All in all, I’d say they pretty much killed it…again.

RELEASE: Steve Angello – Yeah (Original Mix) [Size]

The don is back. The member of Swedish House Mafia that probably is in the real mafia. More importantly, regardless if he’s a part of the “family” or not, the dude is one seriously talented DJ and producer, owns his own label, very rarely uses headphones while djing, commands forces of nature, summers….whereverTHEFUCKHEWANTS. No but really. Dude is a g. Anyways, this song has everything you would expect from Steve. When played live, this takes you to a wildly fantastic place. Enjoy the ride.
